Chirag Patel from TV visits Healthy Pet Store

A TV animal behavior expert was the featured guest at a pet food and supply store’s first dog trainer event.

Healthy Pet Store welcomed Chirag Patel, who has been seen on BBC One, Channel Four, 5 Star and CTV.

Mr Patel met with dog trainers from across the region to share his thoughts on human-animal relationships and new concepts in training, the outlet said.

More than 30 enthusiasts attended the event, called Chirag On the High Street, at the Salisbury Road store, Totton.

They listened to Mr. Patel, discovered new training equipment and mingled with other trainers.

Deborah Burrows of Healthy Pet Store said: “The event was just fantastic.

“Chirag offered such interesting insight into some of his behavioral concepts and challenged the way we describe relationships with our pets.

“Everyone had a smile on their face and the coaches said they really enjoyed meeting and mingling with Chirag. We all learned a lot from him. I would like to say a big thank you to Chirag for his visit.”

She brought bubbles and canapes for the evening, and guests received a bag containing essentials such as an Acme whistle, paracord lanyard, fleece tow toy, and thermal bottle.

“I loved seeing so many people from the dog-loving community come together to learn and meet,” Ms Burrows said.

“It was such a wholesome evening. The goody bags were a treat as well.”

Mr. Patel runs Domesticated Manners, which specializes in the behavior and training of all animals in human care.

He has appeared on BBC One’s Nightmare Pets SOS and 5 Star’s Cats and Dogs at War.

He holds a Diploma in Veterinary Science from the Royal Veterinary College and a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Animal Behavior from the University of Lincoln.

His company offers services including training courses and private consultations, as well as seminars and workshops for professionals and organizations, including those who deal with zoo animals.

Healthy Pet Store was started in Totton about seven years ago.

Deborah Burrows has finalized a deal to move into a former supermarket during lockdown in 2020. The move created the country’s largest fresh frozen carnivorous pet food retailer by square footage.
