WI pet store displays sign about ‘political’ pet toys after local school board votes to censor member

HARTLAND, Wisconsin (WFRV) – A pet store just over 25 miles west of Milwaukee posted a sign referring to those who are “easily triggered”, don’t have to worry as the store sells toys for pets of both political parties.

According to a LC Pets LLC Facebook Post, they put up the sign “because they care about everyone”. The sign appears to refer to an incident involving a school board member posting racist comments.

Ann Charlesworth, who is the Vice president Hartland Lakeside School District School Board, posted on Facebook about an “obscene spectacle” of a vehicle with flags attached. She referred to how racism has no place in the community. The vehicle was reportedly parked in the parking lot of the village president’s office.

Following its publication, LC Pets posted on September 12 about their displeasure with Charlesworth’s post and asked him to publicly apologize for his comments.

At the September 20 meeting of the Hartland Lakeside School Board, the council discussed Charlesworth’s censorship and adopted a motion 4-1 to censor it.

One person at the meeting voiced concerns about Charlesworth’s position.

“She didn’t take the job off and that’s what bothers me. There was no public apology and the post was not abolished and I think we should hold our elected officials to a higher level of responsibility, ”said the participant.

Two days later, LC Pets shared a photo of a sign they posted on their window saying they were carrying pet toys from both political parties.

The sign displayed by LC Pets indicates:

For those who are easily triggered, LC Pets offers political toys (from both parties) for dogs and cats.

Consider yourself warned
